ALTAR SOCITEY Barbara Wade
St. Agatha supports a variety of ministries and councils. Listed below are information and contact options for each.
This service organization has been serving St. Agatha's for more than 80 years! Funds earned through various activities including the Christmas Bazaar and the Spring Fashion Show are used to purchase, repair and/or replace altar items necessary to celebrate the Eucharist, including the host and wine. The society also maintains the priest's vestments, servers' garments, and altar linens; coordinates the care and provision of altar flowers; cleans and maintains the church; annually provides the Easter candle, and all other candles in the church and the Adoration Chapel; annually purchases the music issue and missals; and decorates the church for the holidays. The Society offers financial support to the Parish and a variety of outside ministries such as Mother & Child Education Center and ACCW. All men, women and youth (aged 18 and up) are invited to join.
GOSPEL DISCUSSON GROUPS Matthew Wade
We have an active Gospel Discussion Group that meets seasonally at our Parish Center. Signup sheets are located in the Vestibule of the church prior to the start of Advent and Lent, or by contacting the Parish Office.
Extraordinary Ministers help distribute the Body and Blood of Christ to the congregation. The Lectors proclaim to the congregation the Sacred Scriptures during the Mass.
ADMINISTRATIVE COUNCIL Tom McClung (Chair), Pat Hainley, Dana McElligott, Peter Sample
A consultative group which aids the Pastor in the administration of the parish. This includes assisting the Pastor and the people of the parish in developing, maintaining and disbursing the material and financial resources of the entire parish. The members of the Administrative Council generally serve upon request of the Pastor.
ALTAR SERVERS Brian Quinn, Greg Pashley
Being a server means serving God and his people at Mass. That is what makes serving Mass so special. This ministry is open to all Catholic students (fifth grade through high school). Altar Servers train to assist at Mass for school, parish, weddings and funerals.
ST. AGATHA CATHOLIC CHURCH
Adoration of the Body of Christ is offered 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, year round. Eucharistic Adoration is a traditional form of prayer that involves exposition of the Blessed Sacrament displayed in a monstrance, in recalling Christ's invitation: "Come to me all you who labor and are burdened and I will give you rest." The faithful respond by committing one hour of adoration each week, or simply drop in as the Spirit calls. This time spent with the Lord helps to deepen our personal relationship with Christ and is a window of God's grace for the parish and others.
